Sisters Anna Izycorczyk, Ann Bailey, and Ann PitsenbergerVocations: Inquiry

The inquiry phase is when an individual, longing for a more intimate union with God, desires to discern whether or not that longing is leading her to religious life and in community with the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis.

Discernment
Discernment is the term given to the process of questioning and seeking to understand God's will. In this, the vocation directress walks with the individual considering our Franciscan way of life.

The length of time for the process will vary because of the needs and uniqueness of each person in her journey. If the inquirer is a convert, it is required that she have lived the Catholic faith for at least three years.

Suggestions for the Inquirer

  • Set aside time for prayer and quiet. Get to know God and yourself more deeply.

  • Spend sufficient time with the community to determine mutually whether your gifts and spirit are compatible.

  • Become knowledgeable through reading about the Hospital Sisters community history, spirit and apostolic mission.

  • Obtain a Spiritual Director for guidance.

  • Be open to recommendations for growth, change or options given by the Vocation Directress or Spiritual Director.

  • Be financially independent; have two years of work experience or college.
