Since 1987, the Hospital Sisters have welcomed Christian women and men
of at least 18 years of age to become Associates by sharing in their life,
prayer and healing ministry for the purpose of deeping their baptismal commitment
and fostering the call to holiness. Associates embrace this shared vision in a
commitment renewed annually which is composed of three parts:
- Prayer and conversion
- Bonding with the Sisters and Associates in community
- Witnessing gospel values
Associates do not take vows and do not participate in the goverance and/or voting rights of the Congregation.
Associate Relationship
Associate relationship flows from a sense of call to a deeper spiritual life
and identifying with the charism of the Congregation. The bond that unifies
the Sisters and Associates is the shared desire to live the Franciscan way of life.
Associates offer the Congregation:
- Opportunity to be enriched by their gifts and talents
- Multiple ministries consistent with the Congregation’s charism
- A deeper sense of their calling

The Congregation offers Associates opportunity for:
- Spiritual development
- Shared prayer
- Franciscan values to be integrated in all areas of their lives
- A deeper awareness of God’s call
- Bonds of friendship and community

This mutual relationship enriches both the Associates and the Congregation as they
embrace the charism of St. Francis and live the gospel in daily life.
